Founded in Barcelona in 1946 by Alberto Scavini and Amelia Martínez, the company was born as a private initiative after years of dedication in the textile sector by Alberto Scavini as a shuttle loom technician in the leading narrow fabric companies of Catalonia. Indeed, Alberto Scavini was recognized as one of the first technicians to introduce the technique of elastic ribbon production in Spain, a technique unknown in our country during those years.

One of the first projects on which the stability of the young company was based was the construction by Alberto Scavini of looms for narrow elastic ribbon and the launch of products made with threads made of natural raw material. Thanks to his mechanical and technical knowledge of textiles and desire for innovation and creativity, the company was able to find a market niche among the strong competition already present in the national market, offering high quality products in short runs and adapted, in colour and design, to the individual needs of its clients.

In 1974, Juan Scavini, son of Alberto Scavini and Amelia Martínez, along with his wife, Maite Garramiola, took over the management of the company and, following the spirit of innovation, excellence and commitment of his father, began to incorporate new production techniques in the company allowing the progressive expansion of the company in the narrow fabric sector of the textile industry. Thus, the company was soon able to offer solutions in the following areas:

Needle Loom weaving;
Needle Loom weaving by Mütronic;
Jacquard Loom weaving (broadening the possibilities of creating patterns and fantasies on the fabrics);
Incorporation of Screen Printing Technique on continuous ribbon;
Incorporation of Sublimation Technique on continuous ribbon;
Increased range of colours of raw materials (bringing to the market collections featuring new colours, quite different from the standard);
Incorporation of the manufacture of elastic and rigid laces;
Incorporation of the manufacture of elastic and rigid braids.

The company’s first international exhibition, thanks to the collaboration with the French company Tissaje Jurine, in 1990.
